coLAB studio facilitates the Teen Architecture Workshop at Taliesin

Matthew & Maria Salenger of coLAB studio facilitated a Teen Architecture Workshop. It was our first time partnering with Taliesin West. What a great experience!

We had 19 students and 14 mentor architects. Students learned about scale in drawings and models, and produced designs at 1/2" scale.

Our workshops are unique in that each student collaborates with actual architects- almost always 1 on 1.

The six hour workshop is a whirlwind of creativity- with everyone feeling invigorated and exhausted.

Each student drew a plan and section of their design on paper, then moved onto the models. Their designs are based on their favorite activity. The parents get to see the students present their models in the Taliesin auditorium.

We provided surveys to see how well we, as facilitators, are providing for the students. Quite glowing results.

We hope to have another workshop in a year.
